inland ocean coalition

The Inland Ocean Coalition aims to create an inland movement that builds land-to-sea stewardship.

The Inland Ocean Coalition’s unifying charge is to develop a two-way relationship with the ocean and the inland. Those who live among mountains, rivers, and inland cities have a direct impact on the cycles of life in the ocean. As the nation’s first Inland Ocean Movement, their goal is to be a wellspring for literacy and community engagement across North America.

Presidential Plastics Plan

waste garbage environmental plastic pollution

Plastic is causing serious environmental problems at every step of its lifecycle. President Biden can tackle this crisis with the stroke of a pen. Outlined in the link below are eight key steps that the President can take without any action from Congress. These actions will immediately set the nation on a pathway to a plastic pollution-free future.

Reef-Safe Sunscreen

coral reef

An estimated 8,000 to 14,000 metric tons of sunscreen washes off swimmers’ bodies annually, causing  damage to fragile aquatic ecosystems—particularly coral reefs. We urge everyone to choose sunscreen free from synthetic chemicals that harm our ocean’s coral reefs and encourage retailers to support this shift by making alternative sunscreens available.

suck the straws out

straws

Suck the Straws Out is a campaign to decrease the use of plastic straws. It encourages bars, restaurants, businesses, and other establishments to only serve straws upon request, and to offer an eco-friendly or reusable alternative in such cases. We are encouraging all restaurants to make the pledge to only serve straws upon request, and to offer paper or reusable alternatives upon request. We invite other cities and states to modify the materials we have provided and to join the campaign.
